Minneapolis gunman kills 5, injures 4

A gunman has killed four people and injure at least four others at a sign-making business in the northern US state of Minnesota before fatally shooting himself, police officials say.

The incident happened on Thursday at Accent Signage Systems in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood.

"When officers arrived and entered the business to assist with the evacuation of employees, give aid to the victims and to search for the suspect, they found four victims dead from apparent gunshot wounds," AP quoted police spokesman Sergeant Stephen McCarty as saying on Friday.

"Reports said that the attacker was an employee at Accent Signage Systems Inc. who had been fired earlier in the day."
According to a statement issued by Christine Hill, spokeswoman for Hennepin County Medical Center, the hospital is treating four people while three of the wounded are in critical conditions.

Meanwhile, local officials condemned the killing of innocent people and expressed their deep sympathy to the families and friends of the victims.

"I deplore this senseless violence. There is no place for it anywhere in Minnesota. I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the innocent people killed or wounded," said Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton in a statement hours after the shooting.
